10-minute “Falafel” Recipe
Ingredients
- Chick peas 1 cup, soaked overnight without soda
- Garlic cloves 4
- Green chilies 3-4,
- Onions 2 big, chopped
- Fresh green coriander 1.5 cups, chopped
- Salt 3/4 tsp
- Cumin powder 2 tbsp
- Olive Oil 3 tbsp
- Lemon Juice 2 tbsp
- Baking Soda 1/4 tsp at the time of cooking (Do not add beforehand if you are going to keep the mixture in refrigerator for a day)
Preparation
- Soak chick peas in water overnight.
- Next day discard the water and wash the chick peas again.
- Drain the excess water.
- Transfer the chick peas to a food processor. Add the remaining ingredients and process until the mixture is finely ground and just holds together.
- Waffle maker: heat waffle maker and place 1 teaspoon full dallop in each plate. Do not press the mixture. Close the waffle maker and cook for 4-5 minutes or until golden in color.
- Stovetop: Shape 1 tsp full mixture into balls using your hands (greased with oil). Drizzle some oil in a pan and shallow fry the balls on medium to low flame for 4-5 minutes or until golden.
- Serve immediately with tahini & Zaatar Dip.
