Bakery Style Chicken Buns

Using Dough for Any Sweet and Savory Stuffing

Ingredients

Dough

  • Plain flour 2 cup
  • Instant yeast 3/4 tbsp
  • Milk powder 1 tbsp
  • Sugar 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Baking powder 1/2 tsp
  • Oil 1.5 tbsp
  • Lukewarm water for kneading

Chicken Filling

  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Onion 1 big
  • Bell pepper 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili powder to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Chicken mince 200 grams
  • Thick cream 2 tbsp

Topping

  • Beaten egg 1
  • Sesame seeds 1-2 tbsp

Preparation

  1. Dough: In a mixing bowl, add plain flour, yeast, milk powder, sugar, salt, baking powder and mix.
  2. Add oil and lukewarm water as needed to make the dough. Dough should be soft.
  3. Keep kneading the dough for 7-8 minutes until smooth.
  4. Apply oil to a bowl and place the dough in it. Oil the dough as well.
  5. Cover and keep aside until double in size (30-45 minutes).
  6. Chicken Filling: Chop onion and bell pepper very finely using a chopper.
  7. Heat oil in a pot and add onion bell pepper mixture. Cook until the water evaporates.
  8. Add salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and mix.
  9. Add chicken mince and cook until the chicken is fully cooked.
  10. Turn off the flame and add thick cream.
  11. Mix and keep aside to come to room temperature.
  12. Preheat the oven to 190°C.
  13. When the dough has doubled in size, take it out and deflate using your hands.
  14. Roll it into a long and thin rectangle and place stuffing length wise.
  15. Roll the dough into a big roll (watch the video for details) and cut into 3 inch pieces.
  16. Apply egg on the buns and sprinkle sesame seeds.
  17. Bake at 190 °C for 18-20 minutes using upper and lower rods until the top is golden.
