Bazari Aloo Tikki (Gram flour coated potato cutlets)

 

Bazari Aloo Tikki (Pakistani Street Style Gram flour coated potato cutlets)

Ingredients

  • Eggs 2, hard boiled (optional)
  • Potato 2 medium sized, boiled
  • Onion 1 small, finely chopped
  • Green chilies 2-3 chopped
  • Coriander leaves 3-4 tbsp, chopped
  • Fresh mint leaves 3-4 tbsp, chopped
  • Lemon juice 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Chat Masala 1 teaspoon

COATING:

  • Gram flour (Baisan) 1 cup
  • Carom seeds (Ajwain) 1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Chat masala 1 tablespoon

 

PREPARATION

  1. Boil and peel the eggs and mash them as fine as possible.
  2. Mash the boiled potato and add to the eggs.
  3. Add chopped onion, green chilies, coriander leaves, mint leaves and lemon juice.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Mix everything well until it forms a nice dough like mixture.
  6. Shape into small tikkis (patties/discs).
  7. Take baisan (gram flour) and add carom seeds (ajwain), salt and chat masala.
  8. Add enough water to the baisan to make a thick paste.
  9. Heat oil in a wok. Dip tikkis in baisan and add to the wok. Deep fry until baisan is cooked.
  10. In the meantime, heat a tawa/frying pan and place the tikkis on it. Cook from both sides until browned.
  11. Serve immediately with your fav dipping sauce!
  12. Enjoy!
