Bread Custard Delight

Ingredients

  • Milk 1 L
  • Custard powder 2 tbsp heaped
  • Sugar 4 tbsp
  • Saffron strands 8-10 (optional)
  • Almonds 1 tbsp, chopped
  • Pistachio 1 tbsp, chopped

Milk Cream spread

  • Sugar 1 tbsp
  • Milk powder 2 tbsp
  • Fresh cream 2 tbsp

Other

  • Bread slices 8

Garnish options

  • Silver paper
  • Almonds
  • Pistachio
  • Saffron strands
  • Rose buds

Preparation

  1. In a bowl add a little milk from 1 L and mix sugar and custard powder in it.
  2. Add the rest of the milk, saffron strands, almonds, and pistachios and cook, stirring continuously until thickened. Turn the flame off.
  3. To make the milk cream spread add sugar, milk powder and fresh cream in a bowl and mix until smooth.
  4. Remove the crust of the bread slices and cut each slice in 4 square pieces.
  5. Take one bread piece and apply milk cream spread on it. Place another piece on it to make a sandwich. Repeat for all bread pieces. If any spread is left, add it to the custard and mix. No need to cook again.
  6. In the serving dish, add a thin layer of custard and arrange bread sandwiches on it.
  7. Pour remaining custard on the bread pieces.
  8. Garnish with pistachios and rose buds.
  9. Refrigerate before serving.
  10. Enjoy!
