Ingredients
- Chicken 1-1.5 kg
- Tomatoes 3
- Onion 1 big
- Ginger paste 2 tbsp
- Garlic paste 2 tbsp
- Geeen chilies 1-2
- Oil 1/2 cup
WHOLE SPICES
- Black peppercorns 5-6
- Cinnamon sticks 1-2
- Green cardamoms 4
- Bay leaves 2
- Cloves 3-4
- Cumin seeds 1 tsp
POWDERED SPICES
- Salt to taste
- Red chili powder to taste
- Paprika powder 2 tsp (if not using red chili powder)
- Turmeric powder 3/4 tsp
- Garam masala 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder 2 tsp
- Cumin powder 1 tsp
Preparation
- Blend tomatoes into paste using little water. Transfer to a bowl.
- In the same blender add onion, ginger, garlic and green chilies and blend into a paste. keep aside.
- In pressure cooker, add oil and whole spices. Saute for a minute and add onion paste.
- Cook until the raw smell goes off.
- Add powdered spices and saute for a minute.
- Now add tomato paste and cook until the oil separates from the gravy.
- At this time, add chicken and saute on heat for a few minutes until the top of the chicken turns white.
- Put 1 cup of water and pressure cook until done.
- Garnish with fresh coriander.
- Enhoy with roti or boiled rice.
