Chicken Curry

Ingredients

  • Chicken 1-1.5 kg
  • Tomatoes 3
  • Onion 1 big
  • Ginger paste 2 tbsp
  • Garlic paste 2 tbsp
  • Geeen chilies 1-2
  • Oil 1/2 cup

WHOLE SPICES

  • Black peppercorns 5-6
  • Cinnamon sticks 1-2
  • Green cardamoms 4
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Cloves 3-4
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp

POWDERED SPICES

  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili powder to taste
  • Paprika powder 2 tsp (if not using red chili powder)
  • Turmeric powder 3/4 tsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder 2 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp

Preparation

  1. Blend tomatoes into paste using little water. Transfer to a bowl.
  2. In the same blender add onion, ginger, garlic and green chilies and blend into a paste. keep aside.
  3. In pressure cooker, add oil and whole spices. Saute for a minute and add onion paste.
  4. Cook until the raw smell goes off.
  5. Add powdered spices and saute for a minute.
  6. Now add tomato paste and cook until the oil separates from the gravy.
  7. At this time, add chicken and saute on heat for a few minutes until the top of the chicken turns white.
  8. Put 1 cup of water and pressure cook until done.
  9. Garnish with fresh coriander.
  10. Enhoy with roti or boiled rice.
