Chocolate Pound Cake (Eggless and Whole Wheat)

Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour (aata) 1.5 cups
  • Cocoa powder 1/2 cup
  • Baking powder 1 tsp
  • Baking soda 1/2 tsp
  • Salt 1/4 tsp
  • Brown sugar 1 cup
  • Oil 1/2 cup
  • Yogurt 1/2 cup
  • Milk 3/4 cup
  • Instant Coffee powder 2 tsp
  • Hot water 1 tbsp
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  • Chocolate chips 1/4 cup (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. In a bowl, sift wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda. After sifting, add salt and mix.
  3. In another bowl, add brown sugar and oil. Mix well.
  4. Add yogurt, milk, and vanilla. Mix well again
  5. In a small bowl, mix 2 tsp of coffee with 1 tbsp of hot water and add to the sugar and oil mixture.
  6. Add dry mixture to the wet mixture in batches and mix until just combined. Do not over mix at this stage otherwise cake will be dry and cracked on the top.
  7.  Line a bread loaf mould with a parchment paper and pour the batter in.
  8. Bake at 180°C for 35 to maximum 40 minutes (tooth pick inserted should come out clean by this time).
  9. Eggless Chocolate Pound Cake is ready. Enjoy!
