Donuts
Ingredients
- Warm Milk 250 ml
- Sugar 2 tbsp
- Salt 1/2 tsp
- Yeast 2 tsp
- Egg 1, at room temperature
- Butter 40 grams, at room temperature
- All-purpose flour 400 grams
- Oil for frying
- Sugar for coating
Preparation
- In a bowl, add warm milk, sugar, salt, yeast, egg and butter. Mix until well combined.
- Add all-purpose flour and start mixing,
- When it comes together, start kneading.
- Knead for 7-8 minutes or until the dough is smooth.
- NOTE: Dough should be soft. You can add more warm milk If it is hard.
- Cover and keep at a warm place for 40 minutes or until the dough is doubled in size.
- Take the dough out of the bowl, deflate and cut into 12 equal parts.
- Shape them into donuts using a donut cutter or the method that I have used in the video.
- Once all the donuts are shaped, cover and keep at a warm place for another 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Heat oil in a wok at a medium to low flame. Temperature should be around 180*C. When the oil is hot, add donuts one by one and fry for 1 minute on each side. Take out from the oil and coat immediately in sugar.
- Serve warm with tea or coffee. Enjoy!
- NOTE: Put the leftover donuts in the refrigerator in a closed container. To enjoy same softness, take the cold donuts out and microwave for 20-25 seconds on high and serve immediately.
