Garlic Bread Pizza
Ingredients for Dough
- All-purpose flour 2.5 cups
- Salt 1.5 teaspoons
- Sugar 1.5 teaspoons
- Instant yeast 2 teaspoons
- Baking powder 1/4 teaspoon
- Oil 5 tablespoons
- Milk 1/2 cup luke warm
- Water 1/2 cup luke warm
Ingredients for Topping
- Butter 2-3 tablespoons
- Garlic paste 1-2 teaspoons
- Fresh coriander 1 tablespoon, very finely chopped
- Black pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt 1/2 teaspoon
- Chili flakes as needed
- Mozzarella cheese 1 cup or as needed
- Semolina as needed
Preparation
- Sift the all-purpose flour into a bowl. Add to it salt, sugar, instant yeast and baking powder. Mix these dry ingredients.
- Add oil and mix until oil is all mixed up and the mixture looks crumbly.
- Take luke warm milk and luke warm water and mix them. Temperature should be just warm, not too hot, not to cold.
- Start kneading the flour mixture by adding little milk and water mixture at a time.
- The mixture should be soft, the softer the better.
- The mixture will be sticky in the beginning. Once all the milk mixture has been incorporated, transfer the dough from the bowl on to a clean counter top and start kneading. Knead for 7-8 minutes. After this much kneading you will observe that the mixture is neither lumpy nor sticky. What you have now is a smooth dough.
- Shape the dough into a ball, apply some oil all over the dough, then cover it and place it somewhere warm. Leave it to rise from 30 minutes to an hour. Dough should rise to double in size.
- Once doubled, punch it down a bit to get rid of extra air, give it a quick knead.
- Take you pizza pan and apply some oil on it.
- Sprinkle some semolina on it. Semolina helps to keep the dough dry and crunchy from the bottom. No more soggy pizza base!
- Spread the dough onto the pizza pan, cover and let the dough rest for another 15-20 minutes.
- In the meantime, preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
- In the meantime, melt the butter, mince the garlic and chop the fresh green coriander.
- Add garlic, fresh coriander, salt and black pepper powder to the melted butter. Mix well.
- Once the pizza dough has rested, puncture it multiple times with a fork.
- Brush the garlic butter all over the pizza base.
- Next, sprinkle some red chili flakes and mozzarella cheese on top.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200 C for about 20 minutes with only the lower rod working until cheese has melted and pizza is cooked through. Now turn the upper rod on and provide some heat to give the pizza a nice and golden color.
- Slice and serve hot!
- Enjoy!
