Garlic Knots

Ingredients For Dough:

  • All-purpose flour 1.5 to 2 cups (start with 1.5 and keep adding more as needed)
  • Instant yeast 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Luke warm water 1 cup
  • Oil 2 tsp

Ingredients For Garlic Butter:

  • Butter 3-4 Tbsp
  • Garlic cloves 4 -5 or more if your it more garlicky
  • Chopped Parsley 2 Tbsp

 

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 *C (350 *F) for 30 minutes with both upper and lower rods on.
  2. Sift 1.5 cups of all purpose flour in a bowl.
  3. Add to it instant yeast and salt. Mix.
  4.  Add olive oil and luke warm water.
  5. Mix and knead with hands. Keep kneading for 7-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and soft. Add little bit of flour if you think the dough is sticky. Do not add a lot of flour otherwise the dough will become hard and dry.
  6.  After the dough is ready, shape it into a ball, apply some olive oil all over it , place in a bowl, cover and keep aside for 1 hour. The dough should double in size after 1 hour.
  7. In a separate bowl, add butter,chopped parsley/cilantro, minced garlic and melt in a microwave. Keep aside.
  8. Take the dough out, deflate it using hands, take out a little and shape into knots. Please see the video below for the demonstration. This dough makes 9 knots.
  9. Bake at 180 *C for 10-12 minutes.
  10. Take out of the oven and generously apply garlic butter all over the knots while they are hot.
  11. Bake again at 180*C for 5 minutes until golden on top.
  12. Serve hot with cilantro lime sauce.and enjoy!
