Jhat pat Khattay Aloo Chanay Recipe
Ingredients
- Potatoes 2, biggest size available
- Boiled chickpeas 1 cup (optional)
- Salt 1/2 tsp
- Black salt 1/2 tsp
- Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
- Chat masala 1 tsp
- Cumin powder 1 tsp
- Ginger powder 1 tsp
- Tamarind pulp (imli ka ras) 3-4 tbsp or more
- Tomato 1 small size, diced
- Fresh coriander
- Onion 1 small size, chopped
- Green chili sliced, 1-2
Preparation
- Peel and cut the potatoes into 1-inch chunks.
- Boil until just done. Drain the water and set aside.
- Heat oil in a skillet and add boiled potatoes and boiled chickpeas (if available)
- Stir fry for 1 minute.
- Add salt, black salt, red chili powder, chat masala, cumin powder and ginger powder.
- Mix and cook for a minute or less until the spices are coated on the potatoes evenly.
- Add tamarind pulp. Mix and turn the flame off.
- Add chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, fresh coriander and fresh chopped green chilies.
- Jhat pat khattay aloo chanay is ready.
- Serve hot or warm.
- You can top it with some mint chutney and some papri. Enjoy as an evening snack or a side dish with some dal.
