Ingredients
- Amchur powder (mango powder) 1 cup
- Water 1 cup + 2 cups
- Salt 3/4 tsp or to taste
- Red chili powder 1/2 tsp or to taste
- Cumin powder 2 tsp
- Garam masala 1 tsp
- Black salt 3/4 tsp
- Ginger Powder 1 tsp
- Sugar 3/4 cup
- Red food color 1/4 tsp – optional
- Melon seeds (Chaarmaghaz) 2-3 tbsp – optional
Preparation
- In a saucepan, add amchur powder and and 1 cup of water. Mix until lump free.
- Add salt, red chili powder, cumin powder, garam masala, black salt, ginger powder, sugar and red food color. Mix and add 2 more cups of water.
- Cook on low flame for 3 to 4 minutes until the Chutney is a bit thick in consistency. Please keep in mind that the chutney will be double in thickness once cooled so make sure the consistency is just right.
- Take it off the flame and strain through a sieve.
- To the strained chutney, add melon seeds and mix.
- Store in the refrigerator for 1 month or freezer for 3 months.
- Enjoy with your favorite chatpatay snacks or chaats.
Khatti Meethi Amchur Chutney (Mango Powder Chutney)
