Ingredients
- Milk 2 cups
- Milk powder 2 cups
- Sugar 1/2 cup (or more)
- Green cardamoms 3-4, only seeds
- Desi ghee 2 tbsp
Topping
- Almonds
- Silver leaf
- Coconut powder
Preparation
- Add milk powder, milk, cardamom seeds and sugar to a pan and cook for low heat, stirring frequently so that it does not stick to the bottom.
- Keep cooking the mixture until it turns into a thick paste.
- Add desi ghee and keep stirring until the mixtures becomes like a play dough.
- Take a pinch of mixture and shape it into a tiny ball. If its doesn’t stick to the hands that means the khoya is ready.
- Transfer the khoya to a container and cover with a lid. Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes until the khoya comes down to room temperature. No need to refrigerate for a long time because cold khoya is difficult to work with.
- Knead the khoya for a minute or so until smooth.
- Shape into tiny rolls.
- Cover with silver leaf and coconut. Put an almond in the centre.
- “Khoya Rolls/Mawa Rolls” are ready.
- Enjoy with tea as it is or refrigerate and enjoy cold Khoya rolls.
