Lal Chicken Tikka (Spicy Red Grilled Chicken Skewers)

Ingredients for tikka base

  • Chicken 500 g
  • Yogurt 3 tbsp
  • Brown onion 1 tbsp
  • Ginger paste 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic paste 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coconut flakes 1 tsp
  • Oil 1 tbsp

Ingredients for red colour

  • Kashmiri Chili powder/Paprika powder 2 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • Red food color 4-5 drops

Preparation

  1. Cut the chicken into 1.5-inch cubes. Keep in a separate bowl.
  2. In a chopper, add all the ingredients of tikka base and ingredients for red color and chop as fine as possible.
  3. Important Note: Do not add any water while chopping.
  4. Add this marination to the chicken. Mix well, cover and allow to marinate overnight in the refrigerator.
  5. Next day, arrange the chicken pieces on skewers.
  6. Apply oil on the griller and grill until cooked well.
  7. Enjoy with roti and mint yogurt raita.
