Milky Buns – Soft & Fluffy Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour 3 + 1/2 cups
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Sugar 1 tbsp
  • Instant Yeast 1 tbsp
  • Luke warm milk 1 cup
  • Egg 1, [at room temperature]
  • Butter 2 tablespoons [at room temperature]

Preparation

  1. In a big mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour, salt, sugar and instant yeast. Mix.
  2. Add egg to the luke warm milk and whisk. Add this to the flour mixture.
  3. Knead until the ingredients are incorporated.
  4. Now add the butter at room temperature and knead for 10 minutes until smooth and lump free.
  5. Form the dough into a ball and apply oil all over it. Oil a big bowl and place the dough in it.
  6. Cover and allow to rise until doubled (approx. 30-40 minutes).
  7. Now deflate the dough and divide into 16 pieces. Shape each piece into balls and arrange them in a 9 inch (23 cm) square pan that has been greased and lined with over hanged parchment paper.
  8. Cover with a kitchen towel and leave until the dough balls are again double in size.
  9. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 150°
  10. Once the dough balls have risen, lightly dust some flour on top.
  11. Bake at 150ºC for 20 minutes or until fully cooked.
  12. Take out and allow to cool.
  13. Enjoy! Spread some butter, jam, peanut butter, Nutella, hummus. Dip in curries, and dips, use as small sandwich buns. They are very versatile.
