Milky Buns – Soft & Fluffy Dinner Rolls
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour 3 + 1/2 cups
- Salt 1 tsp
- Sugar 1 tbsp
- Instant Yeast 1 tbsp
- Luke warm milk 1 cup
- Egg 1, [at room temperature]
- Butter 2 tablespoons [at room temperature]
Preparation
- In a big mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour, salt, sugar and instant yeast. Mix.
- Add egg to the luke warm milk and whisk. Add this to the flour mixture.
- Knead until the ingredients are incorporated.
- Now add the butter at room temperature and knead for 10 minutes until smooth and lump free.
- Form the dough into a ball and apply oil all over it. Oil a big bowl and place the dough in it.
- Cover and allow to rise until doubled (approx. 30-40 minutes).
- Now deflate the dough and divide into 16 pieces. Shape each piece into balls and arrange them in a 9 inch (23 cm) square pan that has been greased and lined with over hanged parchment paper.
- Cover with a kitchen towel and leave until the dough balls are again double in size.
- Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 150°
- Once the dough balls have risen, lightly dust some flour on top.
- Bake at 150ºC for 20 minutes or until fully cooked.
- Take out and allow to cool.
- Enjoy! Spread some butter, jam, peanut butter, Nutella, hummus. Dip in curries, and dips, use as small sandwich buns. They are very versatile.
