Potato cheese Balls

Ingredients

  • Boiled potatoes 2 medium
  • Chopped onion 1 tbsp
  • Chopped bell peppers 2 tbsp
  • Corn 2 tbsp
  • Dried coriander 1 tsp (or Freshly chopped coriander 2 tbsp)
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  • Chat masala 1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder to taste
  • Breadcrumbs 1 tbsp heaped

Filling

  • Mozzarella cheese 2 tbsp

Coating

  • Egg 1, beaten
  • Breadcrumbs as needed

Preparation

  1. Mash the boiled potatoes into a smooth mixture.
  2. Add onion, bell peppers, corn, coriander, salt, turmeric, garam masala, chat masala, red chili powder and breadcrumbs.
  3. Mix well to form a dough. Cover and allow to stand for 10 minutes so that the breadcrumbs can absorb the excess moisture.
  4. Roll the dough into balls.
  5. Flatten each ball, put the cheese in the middle and shape into ball again.
  6. Repeat for all the balls.
  7. Heat oil for deep frying.
  8. Dip the ball in the egg and coat with breadcrumbs.
  9. Put the ball straight to the hot oil and move on to the next ball.
  10. NOTE: Do not coat all the balls at once. Keeping them like this might disintegrate them in the hot oil. Therefore, coat each ball and add to the oil.
  11. Fry in hot oil for 1-2 minutes until the balls becomes golden.
  12. NOTE: Frying them in a less hot oil or frying them for too long might result in disintegration.
  13. Enjoy with ketchup!
