Spicy Hash Browns

Ingredients

  • Potatoes 3, large sized
  • Cold Water 2 cups
  • Onion 1 medium, chopped
  • Green chilies 2
  • Egg 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic powder 3/4 tsp
  • Corn flour 2-3 tbsp

Preparation

  1. Peel and finely grate the potatoes.
  2. Add cold water to the grated potatoes and allow to stand for 15 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, chop the onions and green chilies in a chopper.
  4. Put the onions and chilies in a muslin cloth and squeeze out all the liquid from it. Discard the liquid and place the onions in a bowl.
  5. Same as onions, remove all the liquid from the potatoes using a muslin cloth. Discard the liquid and put the potatoes in the bowl with onions.
  6. Now add egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder to the potatoes.
  7. Add 2 tbsp of corn flour. Mix and add one more tbsp if needed.
  8. Drizzle some oil in a skillet or waffle iron. If using skillet, shape into patties and cook on medium to low flame until golden from the bottom. Then flip and cook on the other side.
  9. Serve immediately! Enjoy!
