Spicy Imli Chutney (Spicy Tamarind Sauce) ​

Spicy Imli Chutney (Spicy Tamarind Sauce)

Ingredients

  • Imli  (Tamarind) 150 grams
  • Water 2 cups
  • Salt to taste
  • Cumin seeds 1 tablespoon
  • Cumin powder 1 teaspoon
  • Chili Powder 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

Preparation

  1. Soak the tamarind in 2 cups of warm water for about half an hour.
  2. When it is softened, transfer to a pan and bring to boil.
  3. Add salt, Cumin seeds, cumin powder and chili powder.
  4. Cook until the water evaporates and the sauce becomes thick.
  5. When it is ready add sugar, mix and cook for another minute.
  6. Take it off the heat.
  7. Strain through a mesh to get rid of the seeds.
  8. Imli ki chutney is ready! Enjoy with tamarind kabab.
