Spicy Imli Chutney (Spicy Tamarind Sauce)
Ingredients
- Imli (Tamarind) 150 grams
- Water 2 cups
- Salt to taste
- Cumin seeds 1 tablespoon
- Cumin powder 1 teaspoon
- Chili Powder 1 teaspoon
- Sugar 1 teaspoon
Preparation
- Soak the tamarind in 2 cups of warm water for about half an hour.
- When it is softened, transfer to a pan and bring to boil.
- Add salt, Cumin seeds, cumin powder and chili powder.
- Cook until the water evaporates and the sauce becomes thick.
- When it is ready add sugar, mix and cook for another minute.
- Take it off the heat.
- Strain through a mesh to get rid of the seeds.
- Imli ki chutney is ready! Enjoy with tamarind kabab.
