Stretchy Naan

Ingredients

  • Plain flour 1/2 kg
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Baking powder 1/2 tsp
  • Instant yeast 1 tsp
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Luke warm water 1 cup
  • Egg 1
  • Oil 3 tbsp

Preparation

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix plain flour, salt and baking powder. Keep aside.
  2. In a cup, add warm water, yeast and sugar. Mix and allow to stand for 10 minutes or until the yeast blooms and you see froth on the water.
  3. Add egg and oil to this yeast water and mix.
  4. add this to the plain flour mixture and knead into soft dough, adding more water (luke warm) as needed.
  5. Knead for 7-10 minutes into a smooth dough.
  6. Cover and allow to rest until double in size (35-40 minutes approximately).
  7. Deflate and shape into 6 balls.
  8. Place balls in a tray and cover again for 10-12 minutes or until the balls double in size.
  9. Roll the ball like roti and cook on tawa as you cook roti.
  10. Enjoy!
