Instructions
Tomato Sandwich Sauce
Remove the tomato peels by blanching them in boiling water.
In a pan, heat oil and add chopped onions and garlic and sauté until the raw smell goes off and onions become translucent.
In a blender, add the peeled tomatoes, sautéed onion and garlic and a little water. Blend until smooth.
Transfer the sauce to a pot. Add salt, red chili flakes, sugar and oregano. Mix
Cook for 7-8 minutes until the tomatoes are cooked and the moisture has evaporated.
NOTE: You can use this sauce for pizzas and pastas too!
Meatballs
In a bowl, add chopped onions, garlic and coriander.
Grind a fresh bread slice into fine crumbs and add to the bowl.
Add salt, oregano, paprika powder and black pepper powder.
Mix everything together and marinate for half an hour or preferably overnight.
Make 24 meatballs and shallow fry until cooked.
NOTE: You can freeze the meatballs raw or half cooked.
Variation: These meatballs ate not spicy at all, so very good for small kids. To make a spicy version of the meatballs, you can add chopped green chilies and red chili flakes.
Mayo Sandwich Sauce
Mix together mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard sauce. Add chili sauce for extra heat.
Assembly
Cut open the sandwich buns.
Apply tomato sauce on one half and mayonnaise sauce on the other half.
Place 3 meatballs and top with tomatoes and bell peppers.
Place mozzarella cheese on top.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 7-8 minutes until the cheese has melted.
