Clean, wash and make deep incisions on the chicken pieces as shown in the video.
Marinate with all the ingredients mentioned under “First Marination”. Keep in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, make the “second marination” by mixing all the mentioned ingredients.
Heat oil on a tawa and add marinated chicken pieces. Allow to cook until all the chicken is cooked through.
Add some chopped green chilies and julienned ginger. Chop the chicken using a spatula into bite sized pieces.
Add lemon wedges to the chicken and pour the second marination over the chicken and mix.
Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes on low flame or until the excess water has dried up and yogurt has cooked.
Smoke the chicken by pouring some oil over a live charcoal and covering the tawa until the smoke goes away.
Succulent and tender smoked tawa chicken is ready. Garnish with mint, coriander, ginger and chilies and serve immediately with roti, paratha or naan. Enjoy!
