Add cold water to the grated potatoes and allow to stand for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, chop the onions and green chilies in a chopper.
Put the onions and chilies in a muslin cloth and squeeze out all the liquid from it. Discard the liquid and place the onions in a bowl.
Same as onions, remove all the liquid from the potatoes using a muslin cloth. Discard the liquid and put the potatoes in the bowl with onions.
Now add egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder to the potatoes.
Add 2 tbsp of corn flour. Mix and add one more tbsp if needed.
Drizzle some oil in a skillet or waffle iron. If using skillet, shape into patties and cook on medium to low flame until golden from the bottom. Then flip and cook on the other side.
